FASHION, ART, CULTURE

SOLAR —the first biannual lifestyle magazine in Spanish with worldwide distribution— announces the launch of its second issue Solar announces the launch of its second issue, dedicated to the watchword: “Respect your idols”. The 340-page issue portrays the vibrancy of Hispanic culture and brings together contemporary art, fashion, architecture, design and literature under an international lens. Established in Spring 2016, Solar caters to a transnational audience, to Spanish and non-Spanish speakers alike, thanks to English translations at the back of each issue. The new issue features two different covers: a genuine ‘selfie’ of actress and activist Pamela Anderson and celebrated contemporary artist Christian Rosa. Anderson and Rosa checked into the penthouse suite of Chateau Marmont and photographed themselves throughout the day. The Solar shoot developed into an intimate celebration of friendship, captured in a series of beautiful, unguarded images. The interview, conducted by The Talks founder Sven Schumann, uncovers the incalculable importance Rosa attributes to his own idols, which include Helmut Lang, Raymond Pettibon, and, of course, his blonde bombshell partner-in-crime: Pamela Anderson. The second cover is a limited edition featuring the unmistakable beauty of Rossy de Palma, shot by Brigitte Niedermair. The accompanying article includes exclusive contributions from Pedro Almodóvar, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Louboutin and Blanca Li, in an anthology of personal anecdotes, messages, images and a handwritten note. With a team of over 50 contributors from across the Americas and Europe - including Hans Ulrich Obrist, Angelo Flaccavento, Sven Schumann, Robert Rabensteiner, Brigitte Niedermair, Nicolas Kern, Candela Novembre, Marlene Marino, Diana Kunst, Maxime Poiblanc and Tati Cotliar - the second issue of Solar engages in a genre-defining dialogue about culture and fashion. In amongst shoots that took place against the cityscapes of Buenos Aires, Santiago, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London and Milan, Solar also presents exclusive art commissions from Thomas Lélu, Christian Rosa and a Comme des Garçons special by Mexican artist Marco Rountree. Spanish is spoken in over 20 countries, in dynamic economies in the world, the primary and maternal tongue of almost 40 million people in the U.S.t . Solar is the First and only publication that caters globally to these readers. The second issue of Solar hits the stands across Europe in the last week of September, and the rest of the world shortly after
