Magma
N°1 - September 2023
Magma revives the tradition of the great art magazines of the 20th century. Conceived as a forum for artistic expression, artists and writers collaborate and create together. Magma is an invitation to take part in a dialogue that transcends the usual boundaries of the art world. It is a meeting place. Each artist's contribution is an original or unpublished work, created for the publication or published for the first time. The magazine brings together personalities from different generations and backgrounds: artists, photographers, writers, film-makers, sculptors and architects. Their freedom, in both form and content, enables them to tackle a subject and construct a narrative, producing a unique and original work. Hans Ulrich Obrist, who wrote the preface to the publication, remarks: "Magma brings worlds into contact with other worlds". Large format, bound like a book for annual publication, Magma is a rare object in an increasingly fast-paced society, giving us the opportunity to look, read and collect.
